سايت كمپ اشرف مسكر، سوم اكتبر، 2013 - سناتور كارل لوين مدير كميته نيروهاي مسلح سنا طي نامه‌يي به جان كري وزيرخارجه آمريكا نگراني عميق خود راجع به مخالفان ايراني كه طي حمفه به اشرف در عراق ربوده شده‌اند را ابراز كرد. سناتور لوين از وزارت‌خارجه آمريكا خواست تا آزادي هفت ساكنان اشرف را تضمين كند.

در زير نامه سناتور لوين در 24سپتامبر 2013 به اين شرح آمده است...

وزير كري عزيز،

من كماكان نگران حمله وحشتناك عليه اعضاي مجاهدين خلق، ساكنان كمپ اشرف در اول سپتامبر هستم. ناتواني از جلوگيري از اين حمله مي‌بايد كاملاً مورد تحقيق قرار گيرد و من از شما مي‌خواهم به دولت عراق فشار بياوريد كه كاملاً با هيأت همياري ملل ‌متحد در عراق براي تحقيقات حول اين وقايع همكاري كند. عاملان اين حمله بزدلانه مي‌بايد مجازات شوند.

سرنوشت 7 ساكن كمپ اشرف كه از زمان حمله مفقود شده‌اند، موجب نگراني بسيار زياد است. در نامه اي در تاريخ 19سپتامبر 2013، كاترين اشتون، نماينده عالي اتحاديه اروپا براي امور خارجي و امنيتي، مي‌گويد كه اين افراد در نزديكي بغداد در بازداشت هستند و در معرض انتقال به ايران مي‌باشند.

در آخر هفته، سفارت آمريكا در بغداد اطلاعيه‌اي صادر كرد كه مطرح نمود ايالات متحده هيچ مدرك معتبري از دخالت دولت عراق در «هرگونه فعاليتي در ارتباط با ربوده شدن و بازداشت» اعضاي مفقود مجاهدين ندارد.

لطفاً به من ارزيابي وزارت‌خارجه را در مورد موقعيت افراد مفقود شده و اين كه آنها در بغداد در بازداشت هستند يا نه بدهيد. اگر چنين است، من به شما توصيه مي‌كنم نخست‌وزير مالكي را تحت فشار قرار دهيد كه همه تلاشش را براي نجات اين افراد به‌كار ببندد.

در عين حال، همه طرفها بايد به‌صورت اورژانس تلاش كنند تا امنيت ساكنان مجاهدين دركمپ حريه را تضمين نمايند. تا هر چه زودتر بتوان اين افراد را در امنيت و در خارج عراق بازاسكان كرد، بهتر است و من اميدوارم وزارت‌خارجه تلاشهاش در اين رابطه را مضاعف نمايد.

In a letter to the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, Senator Carl Levin, the Chairman of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee expressed his deep concern about the seven Iranian dissidents abducted during attack on Camp Ashraf, Iraq. Senator Levin called on the U.S. State Department to take action to secure the release of seven Camp Ashraf residents.

Below is the text of the letter by Senator Levin on September 24, 2013:

I remain deeply concerned about the horrific attack on the Mujahedin-e-Khalq (MEK) residents of Camp Ashraf on September 1. The failure to prevent this attack needs to be investigated thoroughly, and I urge you to press the Government of lraq (Gol) to cooperate fully with the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq in investigating these events. The perpetrators of this cowardly attack need to be brought to justice.

The fate of the seven Camp Ashraf residents missing since the attack is also of great concern, In a 19 September 2013 letter, Catherine Ashton, the European Commission’s High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security, alleged that there was reason to believe that these individuals were being detained near Baghdad and were at risk of being transferred to Iran.

Over the weekend, the U.S. Embassy in Iraq released a statement saying that the United States has no credible evidence of Gol involvement in “any activities regarding the abduction or detention” of the missing MEK individuals. Please provide me the State Department’s assessment regarding the whereabouts of the missing individuals and whether they are being held in Baghdad. If so, I urge you to press Prime Minister Maliki to make every effort to secure these individuals’ release.

At the same time, all sides must work urgently to ensure the security of the MEK

residents at Camp Hurriya. The sooner these individuals can be resettled to safety outside of Iraq the better, and I hope the Department will redouble its efforts in this regard.
